WELCOME Welcome to
Breast Cancer Association of Queensland home page.. The Breast Cancer Association of Queensland's main focus has been to provide breast care services to women and their families in rural Queensland. Initiatives include the training and placing of support breast care nurses in Longreach, Mitchell and Emerald. We are proud to announce the fourth breast care nurse is Kerrie Wilkinson in Maryborough. Annual seminars in regional areas help to raise awareness in the community of the importance of regular examinations. We also produce Resource Directories and post-operative exercise DVD's free of charge to breast cancer sufferers. BCAQ have also invested substantially into various research programs in Brisbane. The Boardmembers of the BCAQ are all volunteers, who invest substantial amounts of time and energy into organising fund raising events, and ensure that all funds raised at our events and monies received through private donations is invested in the most effective programs. During the 2006-2007 financial year we have funded; nurses for further studies in Breast Care via the Distance Education program at La Trobe University, as mentioned above we currently fund four nurses to provide support and breast care services in regional Queensland. We provided a research grant to Queensland Institute of Medical Research for Dr Geoffrey Beadle's project that will look at long term survivors of breast cancer. Early detection makes a BIG difference. Latest News - Click here to download the lastest Newsletter Our Contact Details are:
